A3C had the privilege of hosting a University of Michigan student for a couple days after he contacted us requesting a job shadow session. At A3C, we love when students who are interested in Architecture reach out to us. We view these opportunities as a way to provide workplace insight to a student who may only know what they have learned in the classroom.

Malachi Mosley was in our downtown Ann Arbor office on Tuesday and Wednesday. He was able to shadow quite a few of our employees in office and was also able to attend 2 site visits. As we did with our U of M Extern, Beiyi Ma, in March, we asked a few questions to get to know him better and gain perspective on his views of architecture.

Where are you from?    Detroit, Michigan

What year are you in your studies at U of M?     Senior in a 4 year Bachelor of Architecture with a Minor in 3D Design and an interest in Construction Management

Why you are interested in architecture?     Architecture changes a tremendous amount over time. These changes shape the world around us, and I want to use my talents and skills to become the change I wish to see in the world.

What has been the most valuable thing you have learned this week?     Building strong relationships with clients/companies and learning all the steps, roles and requirements it takes to complete a project.

What is your favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor?     Hunter House but they recently closed so I’m now in search of my new favorite spot in Ann Arbor

What have you found most surprising about architecture since you began your program at U of M?     The curriculum focuses more on design than technical work and that actual firms are the complete opposite.
