Project Description

Washtenaw Community College – Parking and Security

The college wanted to provide an environmentally friendly parking deck convenient to the main campus, with an appearance appropriate to the central campus green space. There was also a need to consolidate and improve the Safety and Security Office, while communicating a more visible presence for the student population at the eastern edge of campus. As a solution, A3C designed a parking structure fa├žade with a classroom building appearance and included Safety and Security Office space to reassure students traveling through this area of campus. The final structure is 4 levels and incorporates 473 parking spaces and 5,000 sq. ft. of office space. Employing sustainable design strategies, the parking deck and office space achieved LEED Gold certification and provided the first green roof on campus.
