Project Description

City of Dowagiac City Hall & Police Station

The City of Dowagiac recently experienced a rebirth in its historic downtown. The community invested in streetscape improvements to the downtown business district, and City services grew so much that they needed to be housed in three separate buildings on different sites.

A3C was selected to work with the council, staff, and citizens to design a historic-looking, new city hall that would bring all City services back together again in one state-of-the-art facility. The existing police station, which was attached to City Hall, also needed significant improvements to meet current codes and regulations.

The new City Hall/Police Station is located on the park directly adjacent to the former City Hall, and the former City Hall was torn down so that a park could be created in its place. Room was left on every level for growth and expansion of services. Exterior details on the new City Hall can be found in many of Dowagiac’s downtown buildings.
