Project Description

Scio Township Utility Department Addition

A3C was selected to assist Scio Township with an addition to their existing Township Hall. The addition houses the Township’s Utility Department while also providing training and conference spaces for use by the Township Clerk and Utility Department. A new west entry provides ease of access for contractors needing permits, as well as, for clerk groups coming in for training. This entrance provides a secure space and prevents visitors from wandering through the staff spaces within the building. In addition, the project scope included space set aside and rough plumbed for a proposed recreation department with adjacent fields on the property.

The addition is energy efficient and cost effective. Our team developed a strategy for solar photovoltaic panels to supply the electrical needs of the addition. The walls and roof are insulated beyond code minimums. All lighting are LED fixtures. Water fixtures throughout the addition are DOE Water Sense qualified products. Daylighting strategies were employed where possible. Bids for the Project came in 5% below the preliminary opinion of probable construction cost.
