This project converted the first floor space of a dental office building into a yoga and fitness center. The desire was to visually connect the exercise spaces with the lobby to provide gathering space, and increase the open feel of the facility.
The original restrooms were relocated to free up central space which connects the north and south ends of the center via an internal lobby. The facility includes yoga, spinning, and general exercise rooms, as well as a lounge and locker rooms. The fitness center reception area is visually connected to the building lobby with a fire rated glass wall.
The fitness space was located right of the main lobby where the equipment and individuals using the equipment could easily be seen. The yoga rooms as well as an exterior yoga space were located where the spaces could be quieter with tranquil views. The wood floors had a radiant floor heating system beneath it so that individuals could be more comfortable.
The gathering room was located outside the yoga rooms to encourage building a sense of community among the yoga class members. This space was also stocked with waters and light refreshment to further encourage the desire to linger.
