Greenhills School – LEED Science Wing

This project’s primary aim was to enhance the school’s science program by expanding and renovating the existing science spaces. This building had the opportunity be used as an educational tool, so A3C worked collaboratively with the teachers and staff to maximize the learning potential from the building. The project incorporated geothermal heating and cooling, a green roof, vertical access wind power, thin film and traditional solar power, monitoring sensors to provide real-time information on the renewable systems, a greenhouse, recycled/local/renewable materials, and energy-efficient LED lighting. After completion, the project achieved U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Schools Gold level certification.
